About Wildtree

Founded by chance, Wildtree crafts colourful nature inspired jewellery dreamed up from a chaotic mind. I make ceramic pieces, shaping them from clay and giving them life with unique imprinting and glazing techniques. Drawing inspiration from nature and my surroundings, no two pieces are the same.

Working from my home and Loam Clay Studio in Hintonburg I have found a new passion in working with clay. I often imprint with real things like lava rock and pinecones and also use stamps, fabric, metal, and sometimes even my fingernail. I work from a beautiful selection of glazes, which can be combined for endless colours, finishes, textures and patterns. By using shape cutters, stamps, and unique glaze combinations, distinctive themes and motifs emerge. Elk, cityscapes, chevrons, triangles, mountains, yogis, leaves, and lines.

The raw clay, white, red or black, is rolled flat, shaped, imprinted, holes drilled, fired in the kiln, sanded, glazed, fired in the kiln once more and then finally assembled into wearable art. Studs, earrings hung from chain, necklaces, bracelets and rings are fashioned with brass and copper findings for an earthy look.

My favourite place to be on the weekend is the farmer’s market. I love being outside, connecting with folks, supporting other vendors and picking up yummy local goodness. I’ve become a pro at setting up my tent alone, but always welcome a lending hand from my amazing market community 🙂

  • Farmers' markets are a summer and fall staple of community life. The sights and smells of local foods and products sold by the people who grew, raised, or crafted them are sadly harder to find when temperatures drop and the ground is covered with snow and slush. Fortunately in Ottawa, there is ...
