In a medium saucepan on medium-high heat, combine sugar and water and stir continually to dissolve sugar. Once sugar has dissolved, bring sytrup to a boil, allowing it to boil for 1 minute (do not stir). Remove from heat to cool completely.
In a blender, combine 2 cups of your favourite berries, sugar syrup and lemon juice. Puree until smooth. Place a sieve over a bowl and strain mixture (discard what remains in sieve). In a glass bowl, spoon the fruit, then top with berry syrup. Serve with a scoop of french vanilla ice cream and a mint leaf. Add lemon juice to brighten as needed. Perhaps, a crack of pink or black peppercorns.
