Lionhearts Food Rescue Partner

2,280+ kg of Local Food Rescued To Date!

Lionhearts is our official food rescue partner! Every Sunday, they collect unsold, quality produce and food products from the Lansdowne Market. This food is distributed to local agencies that support our most vulnerable friends and neighbours.

We have had the pleasure of hosting several events in collaboration with local organizations and community members. These events brought new people, experiences, knowledge, and fundraising opportunities to our Markets!

October 2023

To celebrate Halloween, the OFM hosted a Kids Market! 24 entrepreneurial young vendors between the ages of 6-15 prepared spooky treats and creative crafts to sell alongside the Lansdowne Market. They got the full Market Vendor experience and had fun doing it!

October 2023

In honour of International Chef’s Day, OFM farmers donated fresh fall produce to the Ottawa Mission. This produce was used by Chefs Ric, Jesse & Phil to prepare 1,000 meals for our neighbors while also mentoring students in the Food Service Training Program.

September 2023

At the Barrhaven Market Harvest Fest, we ran a fundraiser for the Barrhaven Food Cupboard and raised almost $1,000.

July 2023

We hosted a Strawberry Sundae Funraiser for our food rescue partner Lionhearts, where we raised over $1600!

August 2022

The OFM partnered with the Capital Ukrainian Festival to bring a Ukrainian Market to Ottawa featuring food booths, cultural demonstrations, and more!
